Marin County Builders Guide

The Marin County Department of Public Works is pleased to announce that in
November of 2007, with funding from the California Integrated Waste Management Board, the Waste
Management Division will begin handing out a Marin County Builders Guide. This guide includes a
list of Bay Area businesses that accept Construction and Demolition materials for reuse.
Also included in the guide is information on hazardous material recycling, deconstruction, the
green business program, green building and contact information for the cities and unincorporated
areas in the County of Marin.
In Marin, where extensive remodeling is taking place, reuse and recycling of Construction and
Demolition materials is extremely important in preventing useful items from entering the landfill.
Properly deconstructing and taking advantage of reuse outlets can provide tax breaks, assist in
protecting our environment and enhance your business image.
Tiburon, Sausalito, Mill Valley, Novato and the County of Marin have already passed Construction
and Demolition Ordinances that require diversion of at least 50% of all debris from construction
and demolition projects. Using reuse facilities is one way to remain in compliance with these
regulations.
If you are interested in receiving a copy of the Marin County Builders Guide or know someone
who would like one, please call Michael Frost at (415) 499-3725.
